The Blue Hills Motel and Apartments is right on the edge of the Historic Battery Point precinct of Hobart. Though an older style motel, it offers a great location as well as rooms with a view out over the Hobart suburb of Sandy Bay. The Leisure Inn Hobart Macquarie is a high rise and offers nice views over St Davids Park and out to the Derwent Estuary from the top floors. It is a short downhill stroll through St Davids Park to Salamanca Place. The Customs House Hotel is right opposite the Tasmanian Houses of Parliament and right on the waterfront. The dining room and bar on the ground floor of the Customs House Hotel are excellent. You do need to be aware that it will be necessary to carry your cases up a flight of stairs to the upstairs rooms, but the payoff in location and views out over the harbour make it worth the effort.

Budget Hotels and Accommodation near Port Arthur Tasmania.
As you drop down over the wooded hills to Eaglehawk Neck and the amazing coastal formations of the Tasman Peninsula, the Lufra Hotel will be on your right if you took the scenic route past the Pirates Bay Lookout. This well sited hotel was built in the 1950's, and in a very Art Nouveau style. The old , main hotel building has been updated, and New cottage style accommodation has been built to enjoy the views. Lufra is an excellent base from which to explore the area. The upstairs rooms have water views, and it is worth requesting the best view when booking. The dining room enjoys one of the best panoramic water views of any property in Tasmania in our opinion. The Fox and Hounds is a Mock Tudor style Motor Inn, and is nearer to Port Arthur Convict Site. Built adjacent to the grounds, and overlooking the Port Arthur Convict Site, the Comfort Inn Port Arthur allows you to leave the car at the hotel and walk directly to the Site itself.

Bicheno is a seaside town that enjoys the relatively mild East Coast climate of Tasmania, as does Swansea, just to the south. The Best Western Beachfront Bicheno and the Wintersun Gardens Motel are both older style motels, but are in great locations, offering both water views and excellent central locations in Bicheno. The Swansea Moror Inn looks out over Great Oyster Bay to the Freycinet Peninsula and the Freycinet National Park. It is an absolute waterfront location and the downstairs bar is a hang out for many colourful locals of the area.

Built into the old Watermill at the mouth of Cataract Gorge, the Penny Royal Hotel and Apartments is an historic building refurbished into comfortable budget accommodation. Overlooking Launceston City Park and close to the Quadrant downtown Launceston Shopping Mall, the Parklane Motel is a very good family accommodation. The large rooms and proximity to the Park and the City make it easy to walk to just about everything in Downtown Launceston. The Comfort Inn Coach House is also close to the centre of the City and overlooks the Tamar Valley as it stretches to the north from Launceston.

Cradle Mountain itself where the road ends just past the gates to the Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair National Park. Cradle Mountain Highlanders Cottages are situated very near the gates to the Cradle Mountain National Park and is very secluded - there is plenty of natural bushland and wildlife in the area. The cabins are great because they all have kitchens and outside decks. Mole Creek is a sleepy valley about a 45 minute drive from Cradle Mountain itself, but if you are looking for a rural retreat at a reasonable price, this is a great place to book. It gets you out into the countryside and away from the crowds that are a part of Cradle Mountain and Dove Lake. Discovery Holiday Parks Cradle Mountain offers cabin accommodation, again near to the entrance to Cradle Mountain National Park gates.
