Launceston is a wonderful city on which to explore on foot. situated at the confluence of the North Esk and the South Esk Rivers, it is a rural centre for Northern Tasmania. Surrounding towns are full of history: Evandale, Longford, Hagley, Hadspen, Westbury,Deloraine, Georgetown, Beauty Point and Exeter. Cataract Gorge is an easy stroll from downtown Launceston and is located in the Trevallyn Reserve where the South Esk River enters the Tamar.
